hmmer2-pvm software package provides HMMER programs with PVM (Parallel Virtual Machine) support, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install hmmer2-pvm
hmmer2-pvm is installed in your system.
Make ensure the hmmer2-pvm package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep hmmer2-pvm *
You will get with hmmer2-pvm package name, version, architecture and description in a table
